..A practical workshop for movement professionals
One system. Endless applications.
Every discipline has its own techniques:
Dance. Figure skating. Martial arts. Circus. Acting. Gymnastics. Performance.
⚡Yet every movement follows the same invisible principles.
→ The Law of Movement Workshop introduces a universal framework for observing, understanding and transforming movement - regardless of style or discipline. Developed by me (Emeel Safie).
→ The workshop presents the IBDAW Movement System:
• Idea • Breathing • Direction • Accent • Weight
..Rather than teaching a choreography or a technique, participants learn a system that can be applied to every movement they already know.
This workshop is designed for professionals who work with movement, including:
Dance educators
Choreographers
Figure skating coaches
Martial arts instructors
Performing artists
Movement researchers
Universities and conservatories
Sports and performing arts organisations
Every participant brings their own movement.
It can be:
a choreography
a training exercise
a sports technique
a rehearsal video
a performance clip
or a live demonstration.
Instead of learning someone else's material, participants investigate their own work through the IBDAW framework.
Together we ask:
What is the true Idea behind the movement?
How does Breathing support or interrupt it?
Where is the Direction leading?
Where should the Accent appear?
How does Weight influence efficiency?
By changing only one element at a time, participants immediately experience how movement transforms without replacing their own artistic or sporting identity.
Participants leave with a practical analytical framework that can immediately be applied to:
teaching
choreography
coaching
performance
rehearsal
movement creation
movement analysis
The workshop does not teach one style.
It teaches a universal system for understanding all styles.
Most workshops teach what to do.
The Law of Movement teaches why movement works.
Instead of adding more exercises, participants learn to recognise the principles beneath every action.
This makes the method transferable across disciplines and adaptable to every level of experience.
Emeel Safie is the creator of the IBDAW Movement System, the Playing State Philosophy, and the author of The Law of Movement.
For more than two decades he has worked across dance, choreography, figure skating, martial arts, performance, education and movement research, developing a practical methodology that connects seemingly different disciplines through one shared language of movement.
